Sealants

A sealant is a thin protective coating applied to the chewing surface of back teeth — a simple, painless way to help prevent cavities in the deep grooves that are hardest to keep clean with brushing alone.

Open Mon–Fri · 9AM–1PM & 2–6PM

What it is

Molars and premolars have deep grooves on their chewing surfaces that are naturally hard to clean, even with good brushing habits. A sealant is a thin resin coating painted onto those grooves, smoothing them out so food and bacteria have a harder time getting trapped there. It's quick, painless, and commonly recommended for kids and teens right after their permanent molars come in, though adults can benefit too.

What to expect

  • 1
    Cleaning the tooth
The tooth surface is cleaned and dried.
  • 2
    Applying the sealant
A thin coating is painted onto the grooves of the tooth.
  • 3
    Curing
A special light hardens the sealant in place, and it's ready to use right away.
