Veneers

A veneer is a thin custom shell bonded to the front of a tooth — used to change its shape, length, or color without covering the whole tooth the way a crown does. It's a common option for chipped, uneven, or heavily discolored front teeth.

What it is

A veneer is a thin, tooth-colored shell (usually porcelain or a composite material) bonded directly to the front surface of a tooth. Unlike a crown, which covers the entire tooth, a veneer only addresses the visible front surface — making it a good option when the underlying tooth is structurally fine but you want to change how it looks: shape, length, spacing, or color.

What to expect

  • 1
    Consultation
Dr. Kim talks through what you want to change and whether veneers are the right fit versus another option like whitening or bonding.
  • 2
    Preparation
A thin layer of enamel is typically removed from the tooth surface to make room for the veneer, and an impression or scan is taken.
  • 3
    Placement
The custom veneer is bonded onto the tooth and adjusted for a natural fit and bite.
